Canada
Приєднався 8 жов 2009
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to rediscovering the art of civil and substantive public debate by convening the brightest thinkers of our time to weigh in on the big issues of the day.
As our democracy becomes dangerously polarized, we believe that civil and substantive public debate is a vital public good. Everyone should have the opportunity to hear both sides of an issue and then make up their own mind about where they stand.
Since 2008 we have hosted 28 mainstage debates in Toronto, Canada, featuring some of the world’s leading debaters. Past guests include Robert Reich, Henry Kissinger, Samantha Power, Laura Ingraham, Stephen Fry, Douglas Murray, Fareed Zakaria, Malcolm Gladwell, Anne Applebaum, Tony Blair, Christopher Hitchens, Camille Paglia and Jordan Peterson.
The Munk Debates are a project of the Aurea Foundation, a Canadian charity established by the late Peter Munk (1927-2018) and Melanie Munk.

Zionist audience i mean its canada so come on...Aipac is not just in the US!!!
Her brain is pitiful..
I think Peterson loses a bit of his point, by making it pointlessly about politics - instead of saying things like "the radical left", he should have instead simply stated what types of people he thinks of, instead of specific political ideologies. A bit of a shame, I feel he has several good points, but they get muddied up in somewhat aggressive political rantings.
No way you guys deleted the debate about Israel-palestine conflict 😂
Liberalism has no future because it leads to population collapse.
This guy is supposed to be a conservative and here is he defending the ideology that's most responsible in destroying everything conservatives should care about.
Prometheus sounds more like a socialist to me, redistributing power.
Douglas is a clown. Shock jock Karen
Archipelago? Let’s call it what it is. An attempt to subjugate them like the afrikaans tried with bundestans.
The audience was clearly made of hard line zionists the results were a set up by ppl who said pro to start but never were.
1:07:00 is where it gets rough people, be warned
How much of the pro side was actually about political correctness?
According to the LA Jewish times 40% of film/television executives are jewish and 35% of financial service companies executives are jewish, with just a bit over 1% of the US population being jewish, that is a bizzarre impossible statistic, these are facts, how can media and banks be fair, unbiased with such crazy numbers as these??? Its foolish to say their is no jewish bias or to argue that critisizing israel is this or that, when jews have such a profound influence at the executive level, the answer is pre-determined.
Drum said “he’s there to conserve the honest media” bwahahaha 😂 what the???? Dude lost a lot of people after that statement
She's the chick who said "she's a communist" as if we are supposed to be impressed by Stalin, Pol Pot, and chairman Mao.
she later clarified she is a libertarian communist, which certainly isn't Maoism

@@jmanley11 and this isn't the first time the left has changed the goal post since since Hugo Chavez or Nicholas Maduro or Fidel Castro.
@@jmanley11 that's not the first time the left has moved the goal post. They always say one thing to divert attention from the real self when they get in power.
@@jmanley11 this is not the first time we have seen lie.
wasnt it funny how just before the 2016 election the republicans all of the sudden started talking badly about the 1% and big corporations and lobbyists? I firmly remember the 2008 and 2012 election they called the Democrats Socialists for speaking out against them. I think they learned they needed to change course and lose their principles to get the average worker to vote for them. What jokes they were and still are. Now this loser Laura Ingraham is trying to say they shouldnt have pushed to get rid of Roe v Wade. Once again, they will lie and say whatever they need to in order to win over voters. LIARS!!
Zionism is a political ideology which says the 'Jewish people' should be allowed to self-determine (statehood) in Palestine [the Jews should have a state in Palestine], a place which was already populated by mostly Arabs for over a thousand years prior to the arrival of Zionist Jewish migrants in the early 20th century - this ideology is not only capable of being held by anyone (the majority of whom are evangelical Christians), but this ideology also brings into sharp criticism what exactly is a jew - like if I converted to Judaism (which is a thing anyone can do), is Israel suddenly my homeland? Why should I suddenly be entitled to go live in Israel and have more rights than Palestinians in the west bank. So the political ideology of Zionism is not the same thing as or a quality of being a jew (whatever that means), and being opposed to that ideology is not antisemitism, which refers to a hatred of Jews on the basis that they are Jewish
It’s also important to note that the ideology itself rejects historical realities. While it is true that the vast majority of Jewish people around the world are considerably related to the original Canaanites who are likely the original inhabitants of the region. The Arabs in question (the Palestinians) are equally related to those exact ancestors. So there’s definitely a supremesist element to zionism, where by, despite the Palestinians being equally related to the same people that give Israelis a claim to being indigenous to the land, the fact that most Palestinians weren’t Jewish by 1947 meant they had less of a claim to the majority of the land.
This guy is married to Anne applebaum. I always wonder if they believe their own lies.
Why aren't you posting any of the most recent debates? Particularly the Israel/Palestine conflict?
they deleted it because it was obviously biased and setup! ahahah Munk.. you just lost your credibility
They had posted it but people online started looking up audience members online from stills, many were recognised as Israeli citizens proving the debate was rigged hence they quickly deleted the debate, my guess is they will repost after editing some of the audience members out because they don’t want to lose credibility- which they already have lost
She used her argument like liberalism is what we have currently. We do not have liberalism in our politics today. The issues that she's talking about were created by crony capitalism. She failed, what she was arguing against wasn't even liberalism... She completely missed the mark.
Her entire point was that Liberalism will only ever fail within a Capitalist system
There is no capitalism except for "crony" capitalism. This mythical "free market" capitalism liberals love to espouse has never existed.

Can't do anything about? That sounds like an excuse. If you don't want to be changed by a desire, don't feed the desire.
Are live ticket sales not enough? To stream a _debate_ has to cost 25 USD..?
Today's lesson: Douglas Murray is an absolute star and Malcolm Gladwell is not who you thought he was.
Hard to debate "feelings".
Here is some PC for ya…that black guy sounds retarded!
Sikorski...what an unimaginable idiot.Did the population elect such a belligerent person? He has a big mouth but put him in a tank towards Ukraine and you won't hear him anymore. Such people blow a lot of air but quickly end up under their tank instead of in their tank!!
Dyson is racist. Simple as that. How more obnoxious can you be about it against White people. It's pure hate flowing at this point. He had no further arguments.
My thoughts are similar to what Mr Murray said here, but his recent actions are rather contrary to this.
Douglas is amazing
How’s populism going now? It is growing both in Europe and in America. In America it is growing on both the left and the right side of politics. In Europe the right-wing populism will be a massive wave sweeping across Europe. Steve Bannon was absolutely right about one thing: populism is the future. And he is likely right about his timeframe too (“next 10-15 years”).
steven is an example to us all
Is this the guy who called Jordan Peterson Bruh and a mean mad white man? Needed something new to get on TV with
Bannon is okay , Frum is in fantasy land ...
Isn't it unbelievable how they blame the opposition for what they are doing and saying. Can't imagine what they have planned if Trump looks like winning. Have you seen a bigger corrosion of institutions than under Biden.
Makes more and more sense as time goes by and the deep state expose their sickness
Here b/c of Dave Smith.

That this has so few views is a source of consternation
This is embarrassing.
Biggest missed opportunity/mistake the moderator made was in not requiring the debate participants define PC from the very first moment. Without defining basic terms, conversation, let alone debate, is futile.
What an absolutely useless debate. Total waste of time. Blair is not a good opponent to Hitchens, sadly.
It would be very easy to put up a better argument than that.
An appalling argument, and worse that people found it funny!
He should go up against his brother.
Full of giant fallacies and presuppositions.
Sad to hear such a good brain to be so confused.
He does not know what he is talking about!
Peterson and Fry won the debate, with those in favor of the resolution losing 1/6 of their total. (36%-->30% in favor).
Making this comment after hearing only the introductions... The against team is going to crush it. The debaters for the resolution are from NPR and The New York Times.
